Women in Construction Week: Employee Spotlight

Patrice, Project Executive | Corporate HQ

Who / what inspired you to get into construction?
When I started in this industry it was predominantly male, I never interacted/worked with a female Project Manager or Superintendent. This inspired me – I wanted to be the person leading the project, working side by side with a team, being a problem solver. I knew it would be a difficult journey, but that just pushed me harder to keep my focus to succeed.

What project are you most proud of?
JPMorgan Chase Columbus Circle has to be the project that I am most proud of.  This was a 9,000sf existing branch that was being downsized by approximately 3,500sf with a major renovation of the remaining 6,500sf including new MEP’s, structural and finishes. All the work happened in phases while the branch stayed in operation.  It challenged the team’s coordination and communication skills.

Who / what inspired you to get into construction?
I loved building Lego houses and would draw residential floor plans as a kid. That set the course for wanting to become an Architect, however, through internships, I realized I wanted to not just draw but build something tangible, so I changed my major to Building Construction Management.

What project are you most proud of?
Most proud of my first project – Northview High School in Johns Creek, GA.  It’s an impressive facility and I learned so much.  It really solidified my degree decision for making a career in construction.

Adrianna, Project Manager | DC Metro Office

Who / what inspired you to get into construction?
Growing up I always helped my dad, a commercial electrician, with projects around the house as well as a major renovation to our home. I decided to go to Architecture school, but was encouraged by my family (and Tricia!) to pursue the construction side of the industry since it was much more tangible.

What project are you most proud of?
I’m proud of most of my projects – from 50 branch roll outs to ground ups. But working for the Ferraro Family on two of their restaurants was definitely a learning experience I will never forget, and I’d be remiss to say I didn’t appreciate the lunch meetings!
